Fundraising to honour my mama
Please support me in my journey to fight dementia. As many of you may know, my beautiful, funny, smart mama was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers several years ago. Being with her and my whole family as we struggle, learn, and grieve through this has been some of the biggest work of my life. Inspired by my mom and the community of care that we have built for my mom through this illness, I have committed to participate in the Walk for Alzheimer's to support other families living with dementia in our community. The funds I raise go towards the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
By making a donation, you are helping the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba continue to provide valuable programs and services for families affected by dementia, while also funding research to help find a cure. Their programs, education, counselling and support have been vital to us in our journey through this.
If you are wondering how there can be a Walk for Alzheimers in the midst of a pandemic and social distancing, the Walk has adapted this year. I will be going for a hike with my sister and we will film it and post it on social media. Folks can participate with any kind of physical activity so we may see what else we can incorporate on the days leading up to the big walk on May 31st... stay tuned for hilarity, I am known for my grace and athletic prowess (*sarcasm*)!
Thank you again for your kind and generous support! If you can’t make a monetary donation, we are grateful for all forms of encouragement. You can also check out the Alzheimers society website to learn a bit more about this illness that touches most families at some point.
Lots of love,
